After we mopped up the water from our Sunday morning drain back-up in the basement, we called for help. (The place we called first hadn't returned the call 6 hours later.) Nice to speak to a live person at John's. She paged Josh, one of their techs, who called back very quickly and arrived in about an hour. He was efficient, friendly, and willing to tell us what he was doing and why as he sussed out the problem and worked on the solution. Aside from some apparently justifiable tsk-tsking over our not having done preventive maintenance on our main line, he was focused, persistent, and patient in getting through what turned out to be old pine tree roots that had worked their way into our line.

I was happy to learn good things about the company in general. It's a family offshoot of a larger family-run business in Boston. Quick service; friendly, knowledgeable, experienced tech; and a price ($255) that could have been worse on a Sunday call where he had to spend a couple hours.
